Who we are

Itim is the global expert in culture and management. We give clients a competitive edge by arming them with knowledge and resources to successfully work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Itim provides training and consultancy in the field of culture and management which is designed to increase the effectiveness of anyone dealing with people from different cultural backgrounds. For over twenty years, itim has supported and advised organisations in correctly assessing intercultural and organisational culture issues and applying the results for business success.

Our approach is based on extensive research into national values and practices worldwide, at the core of which lies the work of Professor Geert Hofstede. In 1980, Bob Waisfisz and Professor Geert Hofstede joined forces to establish IRIC, the Institute for Research on Intercultural Co-operation. Geert Hofstede was already building up a formidable international reputation in the field of intercultural differences and their consequences for management. Soon afterwards, a number of multinational companies approached IRIC to organise intercultural training programs for expatriate staff and employees about to be sent on strategic assignments abroad. In 1985, Bob Waisfisz founded itim as an offshoot of IRIC. When Bob Waisfisz joined forces with Huib Wursten they developed itim International further. Over the years the organisation has expanded, and now has many certified consultants in more than 22 countries around the world.

Itim's success with a wide range of top international companies is based on the quality of our team of consultants. Our consultants are experts in their field and have extensive experience in commercial companies as well as (non-)governmental organisations. All are highly skilled in international, intercultural and/or organisational culture management. We are a multicultural, multilingual team who can offer our services in 20 different languages from Swedish to Japanese, from Hindi to Portuguese, and of course English, German, French and Spanish.
